Rifugio Roma mountain hut
Destination for day trips and base camp for high Alpine tours.
The Rifugio Roma (2,274 m), called Kasselerhütte or Hochgallhütte in German, is one of the most famous mountain huts in the Vedrette di Ries mountain range. Starting as a simple accommodation for self-caterers, today it has become a highly popular hiking destination and base for tours on the surrounding glaciers such as Monte Nevoso, Monte Magro, Sasso Lungo, Collalto and Collaspro and along the high-route trail Arthur Hartdegen.
The mountain hut can be reached from Riva di Tures in a walk of about 2 hours, or via the Arthur Hartdegen trail, the Forcella di Anterselva gorge, the mountain huts Rifugio Forcella Val Fredda or the Rifugio Barmer Hütte or the Maga dei Dossi. It is open from the beginning of March to mid May and mid June to mid October.
