VEDRETTE DI RIES
A HIGHLY STRIKING MOUNTAIN RANGE WITH NUMEROUS HIGH SUMMITS.
The Vedrette di Ries mountain range stretches from Brunico to the north between the Valle di Riva, Valle Anterselva and the Val Pusteria. This rough mountain range stretches beyond borders and joins the Venediger mountains in the north, the mountains of Villgraten in the south east, the Dolomites as well as the Zillertal Alps.
About 30 mountains exceed the mark of 3,000 metres. The Collalto, main summit of the Vedrette and local mountain of Riva di Tures, is the highest elevation of the mountain range with 3.436 m. Other famous peaks are the Monte Nevoso, the Collaspro, the Sassolungo di Collalto and the Cima del Vento Grande. The main mountain refuges are the Rifugio Roma, the Rifugio Vedrette di Ries and the Rifugio Barmer Hütte.
